WHITE HOT

Hi dolls! Today's topic is WHITE how to wear it and when to wear it. I'm sure most of you have heard of the "you can't wear white after Labor Day" rule and while technically we aren't "breaking" the rule just yet, Labor Day IS just around the corner! After doing some research I found out that this "rule" has a few factors behind it, some practical some not so much. Back in the day people dressed much more formally than they do now, (aka no crop tops, no daisy dukes) so when the warmer months came around it was pretty standard for people to start sporting white, and when the cooler months began the white would be gone. But probably the biggest reason the "no white after Labor Day" rule exists is because back then status was everything, if you could afford to have summers off and spend time vacationing then you would definitely be sporting white.

Fast Forward to 2013, white is everywhere at any time and I LOVE it! I feel like now a days the rule is, there is no rule. If you feel like wearing white then wear it! I personally love the look of white jeans, something about them just screams classy and glamorous whether it be in the spring or in the winter.  The problem for me is that in order for me to pull off the look I need to wear a specific cut. I used to own a pair of flared white Express jeans that I lovedddd but I just could not make them work for me. I have a petite frame and those jeans would just swallow me. I tried pairing them with wedges, flats, heels, tanks, belts, blouses and NOTHING worked. I ended up giving them away, and taking a break from white jeans all together because I just couldn't find the right pair for me. Until I found the holy grail of white jeans (for me at least) a pair of skinnys from Armani Exchange (that only cost me $39 btw) and I live in those. They're just so versatile and they fit me like a glove. There is NO better feeling that finding a pair of jeans, any jeans, that fit JUST right. So I encourage you dolls to rock your best white hot look and embrace it,  I know it can be hard and even intimidating but nothing beats conquering something new and doing it with style.

Xoxo Amy

End of Summer MINIHAUL

Hello lovelies! Feels good to finally have a chance to blog a bit! I've been so busy gearing up for this new semester that I haven't had much time to do anything! The other night I managed to slip away for a movie night with my boyfriend but much to our dismay EVERYTHING was sold out! Ugh. So since we were already there we decided to stroll the mall and I found some AMAZING pieces that are going to transition so well into fall! I can't wait to put together so many different looks with just a few classic staples! I picked up a few beauty goodies @ my local Sephora as well and I'll fill you in on those too. Luckily I got fabulous deals on everything!

First up SHOES! I had been on a hunt for a long time for this classic silhouette and I found these on sale for only $18.99 Riiiiidiculous I know!

I picked up two gel liners from Sephora in a deep plum & navy on sale for $2.99

A NARS eye primer that was gifted to me as a VIB perk.  I'm excited to try it as I hear its supposed to do wonders for oily lids (Hello my name is Amy and I have oily eyelids)

& lastly a Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes liner in black
I'm so excited for this since I've read nothing but good reviews but full disclosure it is kinda pricey $18 actually (WAIT, WHAT?!) But hear me out the premise of this is that not only is it waterproof but it's said to not budge, run, smear, fade at all! And as I just told you girls, my eyes tend to get so oily that it's almost impossible for me to go the whole day without ending up with panda eyes. So that being said hopefully it will endup a worth while investment!

Hello August

August is such a bittersweet month, on the one hand it's like you're so bummed summer is coming to an end and your break is O-V-E-R. But on the flip side there's the excitement of going back to school (for those of us still living in semesters) or work or whatever. It's kind of that transitional month where you can still get away with wearing shorts and crop tops but can also start pulling out light cardigans, blazers, & closed toe shoes as well. It's been my experience though that if not prepared your month can get a little hectic, and with all the "back to school" buzz going it can get pretty crazy. So here are a few DOS & DON'TS to help you navigate through the month.

DO
  • Start doing your back to school shopping NOW!
  • Have fun incorporating new patterns/colors/trends here and there into your wardrobe.
  • Plan your shopping trips strategically, designate certain days for certain pieces.
  • Shop early in the morning (less people, less lines, more options).
  • Look for a good deal (it's prime time for buying winter items).
  • Stock up on neutrals/basics.
  •  Hit up the makeup counters, lots of sales going on.
  • Stay true to yourself, and listen to your gut!

 DON'T
  • Wait till the last minute to get things done.
  • Buy something unless you REALLY love it.
  • Get too swept up in trends *they go from IN to OUT in seconds*.
  • Don't forget the shoes! Invest in that one vital pair you will basically LIVE IN everyday.
  • Get suckered in to every "back to school deal" sometimes they're not worth it.
  • Don't get consumed with stress, everything will be OK! *breathe*
